Easy Homemade Caramel For Dipping Apples
By: Amber Grangroth
The beginning of fall in Minnesota is apple season! And there is nothing better to pair apples with than some delicious homemade caramel!
I whip up this caramel a few times every fall. It only takes about ten minutes to make and then a few minutes to cool and thicken. That is if you can wait! Just don’t burn your tongue!
It’s great for a special after-school snack to serve guests or anytime you’re looking for a sweet treat!
Mix together the sugar, corn syrup, and water in a small pot and turn the burner onto medium. Let it come to a boil, and DO NOT STIR!
During this time, get your butter, whipping cream, salt, and sourcream ready and measured out.
You’ll let the mixture boil for about 8-10 minutes until it starts turning golden. Watch it carefully so it doesn’t burn!
Turn the burner off and quickly add the remaining ingredients. Then, whisk it until it’s all fully incorporated, pour into a heat safe bowl and let cool a few minutes.
Then, get to dipping those apple slices! Yum!
