Easy Peasy Homemade French Bread Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp yeast
  • 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 cups all purpose or bread flour

Instructions
 

  • In a medium bowl, combine water, honey, salt, and yeast and let sit 5-10 min until foamy.
  • Add flour 1 cup at a time while stirring. When dough gets thick, begin kneading until the rest of the flour is added and dough is no longer sticky and knead until smooth and pliable.
  • Form into a long skinny loaf or divide in two and form 2 smaller loaves. Place on greased baking sheet and let rise for 15 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 425°F while loaf is rising.
  • Cut slits on top of loaf and bake for 16-20 minutes until golden.
