In a large pot, add oil and heat for a few minutes on medium low heat.
Add sugar and popcorn kernels and stir.
Place the lid on and wait for the popping!
Once the popping starts, give the pot a few shakes, then place the pot back on the burner to continue heating. And repeat until the popping slows to 1-2 seconds between pops.
Remove the lid and stir.
Pour out the kettle corn into a large bowl, mix well and salt to taste.
