Simple Homemade Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb noodles
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese feel free to use different kinds and to add extra!
  • Taste and add salt and pepper as needed.

Instructions
 

  • Bring water to a boil and cook pasta according to package directions. Pour into a strainer and put the empty pot back on the stove.
  • Turn the heat to medium and to the empty pot. Add butter and melt. Pour in flour and mix until combined.
  • Add milk, salt, and pepper and whisk frequently until it comes to a boil. Turn off the heat.
  • Add the cheese to the milk mixture and whisk until the cheese is completely melted and mixed in.
  • Add the drained noodles back to the pot and mix until every noodle is coated in cheese goodness!

Notes

Options:
Add 1lb cooked ground beef at the end of step 4 for a Homemade Hamburger Helper
Pour macaroni and cheese into a 9x13 inch pan, layer pulled pork or pulled chicken, drizzle with your favorite BBQ sauce and top with more cheese. Bake at 350°F for 20 min until bubbly.
